To complement his professional experience Alastair has volunteered at a homeless refuge for many years in Sydney. His strong social conscience prompted him to take a sabbatical in the Northern Territory where he worked with Indigenous youth, culminating in a documentary, Northern Lights.

Sefa Chairman David Bennett says “Alastair is an exceptional leader with a desire to take a leadership role in the Australian social enterprise sector. We welcome him.”

Commenting on Alastair McGibbon’s appointment, outgoing CEO Ben Gales says:
“Alastair has excellent business and commercial acumen matched by a commitment to improving social and environmental outcomes in Australia. I am personally delighted to be handing over the reins to such an experienced leader.”

Alastair can’t wait to get started at Sefa. “The social enterprises Sefa supports have a positive impact across our communities on a daily basis. I am delighted to have this exciting opportunity to actively develop and contribute to the sustainability of the broader sector. It is not often one gets to combine their professional skills with personal passion.”
